Some Like It Hot But Not This Hot!

It's the end of August and it has been over 100 degrees for too long now. We are all wilting. Today was the first day of school. I'm sure the kids would have rather been in a pool then carrying a back pack. We have a love hate relationship with the sun. Without it we can not exist but too much sun causes pre-mature aging and possibly skin cancer. People tend not too want to wear an SPF especially in heat like this. Most sunscreens tend to be heavy and when you perspire the residue seeps into the eyes and stings. Going without though should not be an option. We are all looking for the magic Anti-Aging skin care product but actually the most effective Anti-Aging product is sun protection. There are two sun protection ingredient categories, chemical and physical. Many people are allergic to various chemical sun screen ingreedients. There are two very efffective and healthy for your skin physical ingredients. Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. These ingredients are water resistant (important for living in Texas) and anti-inflamitory (very effective for acne and rosacea treatment). They are truly organic. These are the ingredients that make up "Pure Mineral" Makeup. That is why I am such a strong proponent of Mineral Make-up. But, like in everything, nothing is created equal. What sets products apart are the quality of ingredients, science and research, and how products are manufactured. We at Novita Clinicals have been working with R&D on Mineral Make-up for years now and are about to launch our brand Verita Mineral Cosmetics. More to come on it. But, it is good skin care for all skin types and genders. Yes! Men amd children can use it too. Don't leave home without it. True Anti-Aging skin care with SPF protection. Keep Cool. Blessings, Megan

Happy Birthday to Me!

For all the Baby Boomers born in 1950, Happy Birthday! Yesterday was my 60th "B" Day. That number is pretty daunting and exciting all at the same time. Experience is the greatest teacher. For example, I'm sure you've noticed that Mid Century (as its called) interior design is the rage. We've been here since Mid-Century and have not only seen it but lived it. From the first time around of the mini skit to bell bottoms. We can pull from the best of what was and improve on it. When the baby boomer started turning 40 in the late 80's- early 90's skin care R&D really started to ramp up. It's supply and demand. I have been in the fashion/beauty industries all of my career and have lived the evolution-revolution first hand. My early career was in the Fashion Merchandising world first at Lord & Taylor then Bloomingdales. I worked with Biba Cosmetics from London that Bloomingdales took on in the early 70's. I was trained by there make-up artists. At that point is when I said someday I'm going to create my own line of skin care-cosmetics. Bloomingdales did something not done before and put the Biba Cosmetic counter in the Junior Department. The Baby Boomer were in their 20's at that time and were driving this. Creative, unique marketing was off and running. Back to the Baby Boomer. We have been the pulse of large cosmetic companies ever since. As I said earlier in the late 80's as the Baby Boomer was now turning 40 (middle age) we were looking for products that made a difference. Anti-Aging R&D was was born. Creating ingredients that really did something to the skin. That really made a difference. Alpha Hydroxy Fruit Acids were put into skin care products and exfoliation is now a known concept to maintaining the health of the skin. In 1992 I launched Glycolique a pioneer in Result Oriented Skin Care. A term I started using back in the 90's. to me its not Anti but being the best we can be both inside and out. Happy Birthday to all!!
